The Taizé service at Christ
Church consists of beautifully peaceful and spiritually
calming prayer songs, silence, meditation, anointing of oils,
and prayers for healing and reconciliation. The prayer songs,
sung over and over again like a mantra, are often drawn from
scripture and sung in different languages. No sermons; no
announcements. Candles are the only form of light – symbolic
of the light Christ brings into our dark world. Come to
experience this wonderful, prayerful service!
The Taizé service is held at 7 pm on the first Wednesday of every month
at the church.
Prayer in
motion – walking the Labyrinth:
Walking the Labyrinth is an
ancient spiritual tool that is being rediscovered.
Historically the Labyrinth was
used by pilgrims and those in religious orders. Today they are
being used for reflection,
prayer, meditation, discernment, problem solving and
comfort. They are tools for healing and wholeness – found not
only in churches but at hospitals and retreat centers as well.
Like any other type of prayer,
the walk is not a magical tool. The walker must bring to the
experience an interest and trust in one’s relationship with
God.
A “Lap-held” Labyrinth is
available for prayer and meditation in the Chapel daily during
church hours or for take home for a short time through
Tom Funka or
Lois Slocum.
The Labyrinth will be
available:
Thursday, March 20 from 10 a.m.
through
Friday, March 21 at 9 p.m. |
