Intercessory Prayer Team

At Christ Church, we believe in the power of prayer. Accordingly, during worship services members and friends are encouraged to bring prayer request cards forward to special baskets at the front of the sanctuary. The prayer cards are collected and placed in the Chapel. At designated times during the week, the Intercessory Prayer Team members lift up in prayer each person or issue on the cards.

The Intercessory Prayer team receives over 15,000 prayer request cards per year.

Shepherd’s Prayer Chain

The Shepherd’s Prayer Chain precedes the Intercessory Prayer Team by many years. This ministry cares for the prayer needs of the congregation with a phone message alerting members of the prayer chain to specific prayer concerns.

Requests for the prayer chain are made by calling Donna Callen at (724) 941-3953.

Labyrinth

Prayer in motion – walking the Labyrinth:

Walking the Labyrinth is an ancient spiritual tool that is being rediscovered.

Historically the Labyrinth was used by pilgrims and those in religious orders. Today they are being used for reflection, prayer, meditation, discernment, problem solving and comfort. They are tools for healing and wholeness – found not only in churches but at hospitals and retreat centers as well.

Like any other type of prayer, the walk is not a magical tool. The walker must bring to the experience an interest and trust in one’s relationship with God.

The labyrinth is open the 3rd Saturday of every month, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. as well as before and following the monthly Taize (sung prayer) service.
