"Music on the Hill" Concerts
· Spring
Concert-April
20th at 7:30 p.m.
There will
be fun and energetic music including gospel, spirituals, some
jazz arrangements of hymns and medleys from
Godspell and
Joseph and the Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoat. The choir will be
accompanied by an instrumental combo.
· Ambridge
Area Steel Drum Band–
Saturday, May 17, 2008 at
7:30 p.m. Tickets - $10, adults; $5, students. Tickets may
be purchased in advance at the church office or at the door.
The Ambridge Area High School Steel Drum Band, under the
direction of Mr. Todd Hartman, has received local & national
recognition for its outstanding musical ability, unique style,
and infectious energy. Since its inception in 1988, the steel
drum program has grown from five students to ninety. Their
current repertoire reflects a strong commitment to present a
diverse collection of styles including traditional calypso,
swing, Latin-jazz, classical, popular, and rock. There will be
a reception following the concert in the Otterbein Room.
· Jimmy
Liu, Pianist-Friday,
June 6, 2008, 7:30 p.m.
Jimmy Liu will be a senior at
Carnegie Mellon University in the fall of 2008, majoring in
piano performance and music education. In 2004, Jimmy won the
Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra Competition, playing the
Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 in B flat minor. Jimmy has
also been studying piano tuning and maintenance with the
Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s Peter Stumpf. Jimmy was the
music intern this past summer at Christ Church, and will
resume that position again this summer. This upcoming concert
will not only feature works for solo piano, but violin and
voice, featuring Adam Liu, Wuyan Liu and Sabrina Liu.
All
