Adult
ministries at Christ Church recognize that Christians need
relationships to grow. Our
ministries touch people in different stages of their lives and
different stages of their faith. They help individuals
connect with others on the journey.
Adult
ministries enrich lives and equip for ministry and mission in
the world.
Adult
Sunday School classes meet each Sunday morning throughout the
school year, during both the 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. worship
hours. Some short-term options are also available.
Weekday,
Wednesday Night and Sunday Night classes provide short-term
challenges to deal with “Learn and Live” topics, social
issues, book studies and Spiritual Gifts.
Disciple
Bible Study I, II, III, IV and Christian Believers are
full-year programs that help participants learn the Bible and
grow in faith, commitment, and community.
Covenant
Discipleship Groups and small group Bible studies are a part
of the small group ministries.
Special
Events
Guest
speakers and teachers from Pittsburgh Seminary and from within
the United Methodist denomination are occasionally brought in
to teach Sunday morning or Wednesday evening classes.
All leaders
in the church are learners and all learners can become
leaders. Leadership events, with nationally recognized
experts, are scheduled for the congregation and staff
periodically throughout the year. The goals are training,
inspiration, and development of creativity in ministry.
Retreats
provide renewal. We sponsor an annual Spiritual Life Retreat,
fall and spring Singles Retreats, Women’s Retreat, the Mom’s
Family Retreat, and Walk to Emmaus weekends.
Activities
and Groups
We provide
places to put what we know into practice and to create
relational experiences, such as:
Triple A
– For those over 55, there’s a
monthly gathering, a lunch and program, or a day trip.
Book
Group – A monthly gathering to
discuss the book of the month.
Craft
Options – A needlework group
meets twice monthly. There are other options available
occasionally.
Drama
Team – Provides actors for each
“Sunday Night” worship team.
Bridge
Groups – Couples groups and
singles groups meet monthly in homes. We offer lessons and
occasional large-group couples events at church.
Supper
Clubs – Groups of four couples
meet monthly in homes and restaurants.
