Altar Guild members prepare the Chancel, Sanctuary, and Chapel for worship, Communion, Taizé, wedding, and seasonal services at Christ Church. Contact Mark Reed x20 organist@christumc.net. 

Bookstore Volunteers work once a month or as a substitute between Sunday morning worship services and at other specified times. Contact Helen Seese x17, membercare@christumc.net. 

Bulletin Stuffers meet on Friday mornings to collate our weekend worship guides, announcements and inserts. Contact Lisa Struble x11, support@christumc.net. 

Carillon ChoirOur handbell choir meets on  Sunday evenings and participates on occasion in Sunday morning worship. Contact Linda Williams x21, music@christumc.net.

Gardening Team-Adopt a plot to beautify around our facility-plant, weed, feed and water during spring, summer and autumn. Contact Jim Stewart at facilities@christumc.net. 

Hearts and Paws Pet Ministry meets the needs of  members of the congregation and their pets. Contact Sue Irwin x46, children@christumc.net.  

Intercessory Prayer Team prays for needs submitted during worship each week. Contact Tom Funka x19, revtom@christumc.net.

Interfaith Caregivers provide transportation, respite care and errands for those in need. Contact Lois Slocum 53, nurse@christumc.net. 

Library Team-Help our four libraries operate effectively. Team meets every Thursday, 1:00-3:00 p.m. in Children’s Library. Contact Cindy O at formation@christumc.net. 

Prayer Shawl Ministry-Care and the love of knitting and crocheting have been combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need. Contact Joyce Miller 412-257-2023. 2nd and 4th Monday at 1:00 p.m. Library or 2nd and 4th Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. B114 

Prime Time Adult Day Care: Bulk Mailing-Help one Monday morning per month for two hours to help collate and prepare newsletter for mailing. Program Volunteers help serve our clients snacks, beverages, engage in conversation and assist with games, crafts and activities.  Contact Mary Ann Weber 412-835-6661, maweber3@juno.com. 

Roundtable Ministry-Staff members and volunteers work together to provide hospitality and serve meals for  church events and outside groups. Contacts Gary Lucas, chefgary@covad.net, and Elizabeth Hyde x48. 

Shepherd’s Prayer Chain cares for the prayer needs of the congregation with a phone message alerting members to specific prayer concerns. Contact Donna Callen 724-941-3953. 

Sunday Night Music and Tech Teams provide music leadership and technical support for our Sunday Night 6:00 p.m. Contemporary Service. Contact  Suzie x67, snmusic@covad.net, for music and Charlotte x64, techteam@covad.net, for tech team. 

Tuesday Morning Retired Men’s Group-Part fellowship, part service to Christ Church, this group of men provides support to our sextons and trustees with maintenance around the church. There’s always something new to do each week. Contact Jim Stewart x49, facilities@christumc.net.

Serving Others through Christ Church 

Alternative Giving Mart-Purchase representative tokens that can be used for gift giving with actual monies to be sent to Heifer Project International, AIDS for Africa, blankets, health insurance and immunizations, and Christmas dinners in Haiti. Contact Sara Dickey x42, outreach@christumc.net. December 2, 3 and 10 

Angel Tree-Choose paper “Angels” from Christmas trees on our Information Tables with items wished for by Pittsburgh area children, youth, and adults, as well as our own Prime Time Adult Day Care. Wrap in white paper and bring to the White Gifts Service on December 3. 

Hospital Revitalization concentrates on Nyadire UM Hospital in Zimbabwe.  CUMC helps pay the doctor’s salary and provides needed equipment to keep the hospital functioning.  This included the 2006 Volunteer in Mission team. Contact Mark LaRosa 724-942-8392. 

IHN (Interfaith Hospitality Network)-Christ Church is a part of this network of several churches which provides food and shelter for homeless families in our area. Contact Jerry Trainer 412-212-0732.  

National Mission trips provide hurricane  relief through construction projects. Next trip will be to the Gulf Coast area for Hurricane Katrina repairs. Contact Mel Koehler 412-833-1289.  Date TBA 

North Side/New Hope Feeding Program-Cook a meal at Christ Church to take and serve at New Hope United Methodist Church on the North Side. Contact Peg Stonestreet 412-343-5327.

P.E.P (People Enjoying People)-This ministry provides a dinner and program for mentally challenged adults in our area. Contact Mike Varner 412-833-2944.

Project Linus makes blankets for children in need. Contact Julie Ansell 724-941-1282. First Wednesday of each month 9:00 a.m. A105. 

SERRV supplies items made in developing countries for sale with the majority of the proceeds returning directly to the artisans.  Purchase beautiful hand made items, gifts and crafts. Contact Marilyn McMurray 412-831-1627.

SHIM (South Hills Interfaith Ministry)-SHIM provides services to families of the South Hills such as clothing and food. Grocery bags are distributed the last Sunday of each month with listings of specific needs. Contact Sara Dickey x42, outreach@christumc.net. 

Volunteers in Mission-In addition to the national mission trip listed on the previous page, our Outreach Commission works on ongoing projects such as our local Heidelberg hurricane reconstruction. Contact Sara Dickey x42, outreach@christumc.net.
