Some things to consider before becoming a Church Member:
At
Christ United Methodist Church, membership is a
Four -Fold Commitment.
(Prayers, Presence, Gifts and Service) Here is what we
mean by that:
Prayers: You
are promising to be in prayer regularly for the ministry and
mission of Christ Church as well as its members.
Presence: You
are promising to be in church every week unless prevented by
illness or some other unavoidable situation.
Gifts: You are
promising to give your financial gifts as you are able with
10% of your income being your spiritual goal.
Service: You
are promising to serve in at least one area of the church each
year.
In return for your promises to
God and to this Congregation, we promise to:
·
Help
you grow in your faith through study and
small group interaction.
·
Support
you and your family as you grow toward Christ likeness
·
Provide opportunities
for you and all members of your family to be in fellowship
with other Christians
·
Listen to
your needs for spiritual counseling or assistance during a
family crisis.
·
Stand with
you during a family illness or death or other difficult
situation.
·
Celebrate
with you in all the blessing of your
lives including births, baptisms, confirmation and weddings.
Not sure if you are ready to
make this type commitment? There is no rush or pressure to
become a member of the church. You are invited and encouraged
to participate in all areas of our church both social and
spiritual for as long as you like. It is very important to us
that everyone that comes to our church has every opportunity
to grow as a disciple of Christ. Making disciples is what we
are about. We ask that you take your time and pay attention to
what God is calling you to do in your life right now.
Please call Carri Reda any time

You are welcome to visit our
church and participate in any and all of our programs from the
first time you walk through our door. When and if you decided
to publicly declare your faith or would like to make Christ
Church your official church home, either through transfer from
another church of reaffirmation of a commitment made at
another point in your Christian journey, the process will be
as follows:
New member gatherings:
Individuals interested in church membership gather for a
two-session class series and take vows of membership as a
group and are introduced to the congregation.
The class series includes a
Sunday morning class (9:30-10:30 am) in the chapel and one
Wednesday evening class (7-9 pm) taught by the senior pastor.
A dinner with the church staff precedes this class (6:15pm).
New members are then introduced to the congregation on the
following Sunday, either at morning or evening worship.
We consider the membership
process to be a beginning or continuation of the discipleship
journey. You are encouraged to continue your life-long journey
through participation in classes, bible study, and small
groups.
Designations of membership:
If members-to-be have not been baptized, baptism is
available during the membership class series.
All faith backgrounds are
welcome and encouraged to become a part of our church family.
The following designations are available:
Profession of Faith: For those who have never joined a
church before. A public declaration of your faith in God for
the first time. You will be asked to kneel for a special
blessing by the pastor as part of your membership vows.
Transfer: For those who have been an active member in
any other Protestant church. We will send a letter of transfer
to that church.
Reaffirmation of Faith: For those with no active
Protestant membership, or those coming from Roman Catholic or
Orthodox traditions, reaffirmation of your faith will be a
part of your new membership.
Vows of Membership:
During the membership vows, the pastor will ask you if you
will support the church with your prayers, presence,
gifts, and service. These four components are
important tools of discipleship and are discussed as part of
the membership class series.
