Summer Happenings
IN THE
BEGINNING: GROWING A LIFE OF FAITH is the summer
curriculum for the preschool class, which begins on June 13,
at 11:00 am. Through playful storytelling, games and crafts
the kids will learn about people from the Bible who met Jesus
and now teach us how to follow Him.
FLIPT: The Best Hour of the
Week for children begins at 11:00 am on June 13 when Kids
Connect begins FLIPT. Kids will hear well-known Bible stories,
like Zaccheaus in the tree, Peter walks on water, and the
story of the Rich Young Ruler. FLIPT teaches the kids how
Jesus can step into our lives and change, challenge, flip them
for the better. Classes for 5 year olds through grade 6.
FLIPT: Taking it Home -
Zaccheaus, Peter, and the Rich Young Ruler all have one thing
in common: when they met Jesus their lives were flipt. Get
ready for your family to get flipt with the “Taking It Home”
DVD and companion booklet. Each lesson on the DVD corresponds
with the lesson from the Sunday morning Kids Connect. The key
concept, Bible verse, and Bible story for each lesson are
presented in a kid-friendly, easy to hear and understand
version. Child-appropriate discussion questions will help your
family get started talking about the lesson. The family
challenge will take your family on a life application
experience. “Taking It Home” provides your family with a
dynamic, fun, ready-made devotional time which continues the
Kids Connect lessons or provides a starting point for family
faith discussions.
Have Faith & Fun Summer
Activity Puzzle - Keep faith going and growing all summer
with this activity puzzle. In the summer, when kids may have
more free time and are looking for things to do, direct their
energy toward God. Even small lessons and activities can make
a lasting impression on kids, and impact their faith. The
Faith and Fun Puzzle helps kids and families continue learning
and growing in faith all summer. Each week, beginning June 13,
download and print the weekly puzzle piece. Color it and cut
out. The puzzle fits on a standard size poster board for easy
mounting. Do the suggested activity as a family.

Weekly Happenings
Kid's Connect Sunday School
is an awesome
introduction to God! Using active and creative faith-based
activities, children explore the Bible's stories to learn
about Jesus' love. Kids Connect is a place where children
connect,
commit and carry Christ's love forward, 4RGOD!
The classes are for children aged 2 through grade 6 and is offered during the 9:30 and
11:00/11:01 am worship services most Sundays of the year. Family
worship Sundays are on holiday weekends.
Click here for more information and to read the monthly
newsletter.
Children's Choirs are
available for children age 4 through grade 6 (see
Music Ministries).
We also have a
Children's Handbell Choir.
Monthly Events
Kid's Clubs are for children in elementary
school. Each age group has a planned fellowship time,
complete with a supper, each month during the school year.
It’s a chance for healthy, active fun. There is always a
Christian message involved, and a chance to get to know other
kids in the church. These groups help the kids to feel that
they “belong” in the church.
Family Fun Nights are events for kids of all ages
and their families. These events provide Christian-based
activities to strengthen and support families and to grow a
strong Christian community.
Other Opportunities
Vacation Bible School
is always a
wonderful week, usually in July, when large groups of Christ Church
children and their friends gather for interesting mornings of
creativity, fun, food, music and worship. New friends are
made among both kids and moms.
Worship
Enrichment is one of two
special learning opportunities children have each year.
Worship enrichment is offered to 1st and 2nd
graders, along with a parent or other adult, for five Sunday mornings in the
winter. Children attend part of the worship service each week
and then go back to class and learn what it all means.
Communion Enrichment is a
study for 3rd and 4th graders for one
month each spring. They learn about the communion elements
and the meaning of the sacrament. The conclusion is a special
communion service for the children and their families.
We at
Christ United Methodist Church seek to reach and welcome all
children because children are an important part of God’s
family. We offer a
variety of experiences to nurture the spiritual growth of
children and their families.
